    In her lifetime, Margaret Hardenbroeck achieved success and wealth in the early Dutch New World. She inherited her late husband’s business, which involved the cooking oil trade between Holland and the colonies. She expanded her business and acquired property throughout the colonies, including New York City. By 1691, she was one of the wealthiest women in New York.

    In 1825, Hardenbroeck passed away, but the business continued to prosper under her leadership. When the Philadelphia & Columbia Railroad began seeking iron for locomotives, she expanded the industry to supply the railroad. In 1854, she was the youngest woman to be named CEO of an industrial manufacturer. She founded the National Association of Black Businesswomen and was the first African-American female ironmaster.

    Lydia Pinkham is one of the most influential businesswomen in history. Although she had purely self-serving intentions, her efforts have left a lasting impression on society. Her work on female reproduction and has inspired women to seek better medical treatment. As a result, she has been credited with changing the lives of thousands of women and raising awareness of severe female health problems.

    Lydia Pinkham was the first woman to be a millionaire in the United States. However, this does not mean she was wealthy in her lifetime. Burton estimates that Pinkham’s business only grossed $300,000 a year at the end of her career. Half of this was spent on advertising. After her death, her business grew substantially, reaching a peak of three million dollars a year.

    Anna Sutherland Bissell

    Anna Sutherland Bissell, who founded the Bissell Company, is one of the most successful businesswomen in history. She served as CEO of the company for 30 years and grew the company while caring for the needs of her employees. In addition to expanding the company’s product line, she made Bissell one of the first corporations to offer its workers pension plans and benefits. She was one of the most successful businesswomen in history and one of the first American women to become the CEO of a major corporation. She became the first woman to join the National Hardware Men’s Association.

    As the head of Bissell, Anna Sutherland Bissell introduced progressive labor policies that would change the face of the workplace. She helped create opportunities for African Americans by opening cosmetology schools and teaching women about healthy scalp care. Her contributions to the community were numerous, and she was awarded honorary degrees from several universities. In addition to her successful business career, she had many charitable contributions. Her contributions to the community are still felt today. The Annie Malone Children and Family Service Center is an organization that helps improve the lives of children and their families. The organization is based in St. Louis and offers several educational programs and social services for children and families. It also hosts the Annie Malone May Day Parade, the second largest continuous African American parade in the nation.
