Insomniac Games confirms that Marvel’s Spider Man 2 is set to release in 2023 as fans share concerns about a delay.
Insomniac Games Reiterates 2023 Release for Marvel’s Spider Man 2
Insomniac Games reiterates that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is still slated for 2023. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 was unveiled last year at a PlayStation Showcase presentation, although not much is known about the game to date.
Still, it’s probably one of the most anticipated games on Sony’s list of first-party titles. The original game was a huge success, as was Marvel’s Spider-Man and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales sold a total of over 33 million copies as of May 15, 2022. Marvel’s Spider-Man arrived on PS4 four years ago, but the developer has released three pieces of DLC, a standalone expansion, and a remaster within this time frame. Insomniac Games now confirms the release year of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.
This information has been received from the official Twitter account of Insomniac Games. The developer posted a clip from Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, probably to promote its release on PC next month. Some users responded to this tweet with concerns about the lack of gameplay footage, and one shared their concerns about the delay. Insomniac Games noted that the team is making good progress on Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and that the game is still scheduled for release in 2023. Finally, it said that showing games in presentations take time, effort, and coordination.
Fans probably won’t see any gameplay from Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 until the next major PlayStation Showcase event. Sony has yet to host one in 2022, so players have been left without information about some first-party games for over a year. A recent rumor suggested that Sony may be canceling its PlayStation Showcase plans due to the ongoing investigation into Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard King. It added that an alleged PlayStation event will feature exclusive titles that could strengthen Microsoft’s case.
Sony may also show a trailer for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 at a State of Play presentation, but it’s not as important as a full showcase event. However, some exciting announcements have been made in the last two State of Play such as the remake of Tekken 8, Rise of the Ronin, and Resident Evil 4.
In addition, they included new trailers for games like God of War Ragnarok and Final Fantasy 16, so Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 gameplay trailer in the Future Kingdom isn’t entirely out of the question. Horizon Forbidden West and Gran Turismo 7 received their own play-off states, so Sony may also consider hosting one for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 if a PlayStation Showcase isn’t on the cards.
